Institution

Schola Graphidis Art Collection, Hungarian University of Fine Arts - High School of Visual Arts, Budapest

Object description:

The drawing represents the plan and the orthographic elevation of an urn with the head of a faun. The drawing was made in 1801, in the Königliche Städtische Zeichenschule zu Pest (Pest Drawing School, founded in 1788). The curriculum of the first drawing schools included excercises of the geometry drawing and the drawing of architectural ornaments. In the first decades, series of prints brought from Vienna served as examples for the drawing practice.
