The Baroness Eleonora von Keyserlingk, born Countess von Schlieben-Sanditten

Institution

Nationalmuseum, Sweden

Object description:

Miniatures by Antoine Pesne are frequently debated in art history research. Since this portrait is based on a full-sized oil painting by Pesne (Stiftung Preussische Schlösser und Gärten Berlin-Brandenburg) most evidence would indicate that he also made the miniature. The model, Baroness von Keyserlingk was a lady in attendance (“Ehrendame”) at the court of Elizabeth Christine, Queen of Prussia.
