Sturm, a professor of mathematics and oriental languages at the University of Altdorf (Germany) published the first image of a portable magic lantern, which was quite similar to the lanterns that were manufactured from that time onwards. In this same volume we also find the first image of a magic lantern slide (the head of the god Bacchus).
