Object description:

The Filoscope. Andalusian dance. 189 photographic images (2. 4 x 1. 9 cm) B/W within tabs (8. 5 x 1. 9 cm). It includes full instructions. Red metal chassis. It was invented by Linnett in 1868, it was originally called the Flick book. It had various cards, each of which had a reproduction of a phase of a movement. Bound into a book, when the cards were flipped trough quickly they gave a sensation of movement. The drawings were soon replaced by photographs. In 1898 the Englishman Short came up with the idea called the Filoscope, where with a metallic lever the photographic series moved quickly to show the movement, as with a cinematographic sequence.
