Object description:

Toupie Fantoches. Invented by Émile Reynaud in 1879. The images were seen in the same way as with the praxinoscope system. This rather simple apparatus had the shape of a pyramid with mirrors on all sides and a handle in the lower part. The strops are replaced by a disk with four images drawn on it that broke down a movement. The disk was placed on the upper part of the pyramid, which was rotated to give the image an effect of movement.
