Praxinoscope Theatre
Object description:
Praxinoscope Theatre. Émile Reynaud. Drum (22 cm diameter x 5. 7 cm high) with 12 mirrors (2. 5 x 5 cm). Lighting: Candle with a 6-sided pink cardboard lampshade (it is a reproduction). Varnished box with windows. It includes scenery.
Invented by É. Reynaud in 1879, it used the same system as the praxinoscope, with the difference that the images were seen trough a piece of glass that reflected the latent image of a miniature stage with its scenery, in the middle of which the image moved.
